My father put a camera in my hands when I was four. Thirty-six years later a camera is still within arm's reach. Photography began as my inquisitive toy. Now it is my tool and my contribution that I brandish like an explosive bouquet of flowers hurled into time.
In 2000 I was shooting an expedition in Kyrgyzstan with Tommy Caldwell, Beth Roden and Jason Smith when we war erupted and we were taken hostage. If I learned anything from that, it is to live passionately and take your dreams as far as you possibly can.
I am passionate about capturing stories that can not be reproduced and bringing them back for the rest of the world. Many of my images have a long story behind them. Please click the captions icon to read some of the stories behind the image.
On a side note, that is the Polar Ice Cap or was in 2002.
